  • The Internet Movie Database lists movies and television shows that have included characters with autism, or have dealt with the subject of autism.
  • Take a look at a list of books about people with disabilities in movies. All of these books are available in the Hesburgh Libraries.

Newspaper/Magazines - Looking for magazine or newspaper articles about people with disabilities?

  • Search Academic Search Premier for terms such as autism or ADHD or neurodevelopmental disabilities, and narrow your results to magazines or newspapers:

Diagnosis/Definitions

  • The DSM-5 Development site provides access to currently proposed diagnostic categories  of neurodevelopmental disorders as well as diagnoses that are listed in the DSM IV.
  • The National Center for Learning Disabilities has checklists, guides, statistics and more information related to learning disabilities.
  • Search the Gale Virtual Reference Library to find short articles on neurodevelopmental disorders, their diagnosis, treatment, and other related issues.  Short bibliographies at the ends of the articles will lead you to other relevant readings.
  • Sage Reference Online also provides short definitions and information on treatment, educational services and more.
  • The Journal of Neurodevelopmental Disorders provides access to a variety of scholarly articles on various disorders, their treatment and other related issues. Library Access.
  • The Centers for Disease Control have launched a campaign called Learn the Signs. Act Early. designed to help parents recognize early signs of developmental disabilities.
