Bible Versions

Bible translations (aka "versions") from the Hebrew (Old Testament) and Greek (New Testament) vary widely in how closely they follow the original language -- from literal to free paraphrase.  For devotional use, paraphrases by individuals are often very helpful.  However, for serious, academic study the following more literal versions prepared by groups of scholars are usually recommended.
